How to make IE7 search at google.co.uk

*Later*  This only works for the current sesson. As soon as you terminate IE7 and restart it, it will forget to search Google.co.uk. Red herring I’m afraid.

Running IE7 and want to search google.co.uk for UK sites using the built-in search field?

Follow these instructions

  1. Paste this in a new window: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/searchguide/en-uk/default.mspx?dcsref=http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx#
  2. Go to the URL in section 1. Check out the yellow box on the right hand side. Paste this into the (3.) section: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=TEST&btnG=Google+Search&meta=cr%3DcountryUK%7CcountryGB
  3. In the (4.) section, type google.co.uk
  4. Click “Install”
  5. Check the “Make this my default” checkbox
  6. Click the “Replace” button

Now you can search for UK sites at http://www.google.co.uk/ from the search input field within Internet Explorer 7

Good, eh?
